It's drawing closer and closer to that time...Election Day is November 4th, 2008. Only 27 days to go, but only 2 more days to register...that's if you live in NY! Click here for the deadline dates in your state! As you all already know, it is your civic duty and priviledge so take full advantage of what we ARE able participate in. Given the current financial state of our economy, the only thing we may be able to participate in will be the collection of free cheese! Although, if it's still like it was years ago, I'll take 2 please. That shit was the BOMB!
Anyhow, I came across these babies from Toms Shoes which are quite fitting for the upcoming, highly anticipated Election Day.
If you're not familiar with this designer, here is a little background...Blake, 31, who fashions his shoes to resemble Argentinian style shoes is sort of a modern day philanthropist. For every shoe sold, another pair is donated to a child in need in various countries. Since May of 2006 Toms Shoes has donated over 60,000 pairs to children in Argentina and South Africa through the support of his customers.
Blake has decided to take his shoes to the next level and even if you're too young to vote, he has allowed you to still show your support! Make your own political statement, but remember to VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bonnie & Clyde
Why do I love this pic? It is the perfect portrayal of me and my inamorato! Never has a picture been more accurate. The sameness of the dark, crisp, denim contrasted by the obvious difference in choice of footwear. Although our strong differences may seem conflicting, its quite the opposite- harmonious! Staying true to ourselves allows us to participate in the appreciation of the dissimilarities between us and actually learn to embrace them.
It is my "sole" belief that your footwear says much about you. Whether you like the athletic stylings and comfort of a sneaker or the edgy aesthetic of a dress shoe, they both speak volumes. So, how do I express my personality vs my love sponge? While the majority of the shoes that I post are really on my wish list, there are a select few that I feel speak exceptionally well for me. For the Fall these are the few that my "sole" seems to be vibing with. Unfortunately, my wallet doesn't agree so we'll have to work something out...
I've got the basic black pump, with a lil' extra, of course...
Sergio Rossi $554
Another pump with just a splash of color...I need this to brighten up any all-black ensemble I wear...
Be&D $425
I fancy these...sort of booties, but not really. I can't sport my crazy textured tights with these.
Robert Clergerie $850
I these soooooo much! I'm currently scouring my house as we speak to find things I can pawn so I can purchase them. And no, I'm not joking!!!
Christian Louboutin $1555
And last but not least, the not so basic black boot. These are fiya!!!
Bally $870
As for my other half, these are his findings...
Naturally, the green and white "drawn" Nike joints!
Marc Jacobs...pseudo spectators!
Reebok Pumps...not too manly to rock pink!
So, how does your footwear compare to your mates???

Fashion Week: The Real Fashionistas
As most of you know, the ladies walking the catwalk are mere representatives of who the real fashionistas are. The crowd that flocks to see what's what for the upcoming season are already bonafide clothes-horse mavens and are usually there to display their unique sense of fashion and in some cases a lack thereof. New York already being a huge melting pot seemingly begins to boil over with the culmination of all varied takes on what is hot, trendy and "in". I was fortunate enough to capture just a few photos of some interesting footwear and characters, to say the least.
A definite Hit!! This New Orleans visitor donned a mean Gucci dress...
...and a pair of shoes she grabbed from Zara's! Tres Chic.
Givenchy wedge heel pumps
Abaete for Payless...who would have guessed that???
Shoes are fab, but her pedicure is even better!!
I was totally digging the white-on-white, especially the knee-socks...
Close-up of these Eva Eames pumps by United Nude
The Fabulous Andre J in all his glory!
And of course the piece de resistance...Ms. Honey, Dexter Ivy! As you can see, he has crowned himself...a true "Queen"! I love it!
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did. I live for this mess!!!!

Fashion Week: The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection
So Fashion Week is winding down and I had a fabulous time! If you'd like to read what I've been up to check my feature articles at Front of The House Tv!
So Saks 5th Avenue kicked off the beginning of Fashion Week Spring 2009 with an awesome party and an even better exhibit!!! To commemorate the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, the crafty wizards that reign over the shoe empire re-created the Ruby Slipper within their likeness with all the glitz and glamour you can imagine. Truth be told, it may have been my favorite treat of the entire glam-filled week.
Botkier
Guiseppe Zanotti
Jimmy Choo
Tibi...true to the "cut-out bootie" trend!
Oscar de la Renta...sophisticated and classic!
Betsey Johnson...quintessential ruby slipper!
Diane von Furstenberg
LAMB...I'd click my heels in these!

Fashion Week: Nuj Novakhett
Yesterday was officially my first day covering a Fashion Show, let alone a show for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2009 collections. Being as though I am covering the shows for Front of the House PR company/blog, as a novice I was quite nervous, not really knowing exactly what to expect and felt as though I needed to bring my "A" game to represent their company. We all know the industry can be quite brutal, but even though I was a ball of nerves my appearance and the confidence I conjured up spoke for itself and was my protection against the odds!
So here was my journey yesterday...come follow me. I traveled to 320 Studios on the West Side of Manhattan to the 14th fl. to view the Spring 2009 collection from Nuj Novakhett I was there a bit early so I took my place by the window and chatted it up with a fellow journalist while I sipped my wine. Both did me a world of good. As the crowd filed into the bare white space a cloud of anticipation grew and we all waited anxiously (at least I did) for the commencement of the show.
Being quite informal with standing room only, we were free to take all the photos we desired and/or needed. No space was off limits. The models were positioned on a raised platform, visible from all sides and rotated appropriately. Pretty cool, huh? This enabled the room of press and buyers to view the collection at a even pace where we were actually able to enjoy the pieces as opposed to the customary catwalk one-off. Feminine, tailored, goddess dresses, skirts and blouses kept the crowds attention.
The shoes did what they do best...pulled together an already chic look. They were provided from Marcello Toshi's Spring 08 collection. The pale blue, coral, ivory and black shoes were detailed carefully. Either winged, fanned-out, cut-out, or adorned, they seemed to captivate the audience just as much as the collection itself. Of course, that's where my eyes were glued! They had an almost updated vintage feel that I thought played well with the collection. As with most shoes, I cannot decide which one I love most.
I apologize for the coral shoe picture. Models do have the most horrific feet!
Even though I'll be covering these shows focusing heavily on the apparel content for Front of the House blog, I will share with you pics from the collections, but here, we will stay focused on shoes. After all that's why we're all here, right? Trust and believe, we will all be amazed at the designers and collections. Be sure to check out my coverage of the collections on Front of the House as well!

Christain Lacroix + Gola
"So I look slick, in my six, with my Christian LaCroix"...as professed by the one Lil' Kim.
Christian Lacroix, the French desinger synonymous with outlandish embroidery, pop colors and out-of-the-box designs has teamed up with the original classic British sports brand, Gola
to produce some funky trainers(pictured below) which are due out in January 2009 for both men and women. "The Gola by Christian Lacroix collection takes its cue from the designer's house pattern, Torero Cape, inspired by that of a Spanish bullfighter." (Footwear News)
"In a way, trainers are to the 21st century what shimmering ties and multicolored vests were to the dandies of the 19th century — a distinctive sign, a personal signature. That is the perspective from which I prefer to view fashion, rather than that of uniformity,” Lacroix said in the statement. Lacroix could not be more correct. In a time when the formal dress codes of the corporate office are now being replaced by Casual Friday's everyday, sneakers have streamlined their way into the daily fabric of many wardrobes. Not only are they praised for comfort but now they have a plethora of designers wide-eyed and drooling to partake in the growing trend. No longer are sneakers just for running or playing sports, they have become a fashion must-have and designers left and right are making their mark. Varvatos for Converse, Y-3 for Adidas and now Lacroix for Gola...and the list will continue to grow.
As you have all come to know me, I am really no lover of the rubber soled shoes, but I must admit, they're growing on me! Maybe I'll have to indulge in a pair of these pretty soon.

The Return of the Ugg-ly Boot!
As you all know, I harbor a great disdain for the fugly Ugg boot! These Australian Sheep Skin Boots have somehow taken over the brains of those less fortunate...unfortunate enough to think that these gross examples of boots are a fashion statement. More of a "DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER", than an actual "DO".
Regretfully, I must inform you that yet again, they have returned and Ugg is trying their dandiest to actually market this disastrous footwear as something contemporary! Sigh...the absolute gall! Although they are not as horrid as the usual, they're still a bit butch!
Shearling Riding Boot $300
Why? Why would anyone ever need to wear the shearling on the outside of their boot? And it's white. Are the folks over at Ugg favoring some other "white" candy to come up with such tom foolery?
Classic Cardy Boot $140
And what is so "classic" about a boot fashioned out of a sweater your Grandma Helen made? F-ing gross. It actually looks like something I'd give a dog to chew on.
Whitley Lace-Up $230
All prepped and ready for Halloween...if you're going as Frankenstein or a fucking Viking that is! What are you Aussie's thinking? I've never seen Crocodile Dundee in this mess. He wore some kick-ass croc skin boots that we'd probably all kill for today, but now we're stuck with the Franken-chic Ugg look. Please stop killing me...I beg of you!
That is all the trauma my feet could stand for today. Tomorrow we'll have to make up for today's tragic post. Let this be a lesson to you ladies...
LOL...I'm a mess! Kisses...XOXO!

Goodbye Summer...Hello Fall!
It's Labor Day...say goodbye to those lazy days of summer, to the warm summer breeze dancing against your sun-kissed skin and pretty soon to those open toe shoes we so love. But we have nothing to be sullen about, for Fall is promising us a plethora of trends and the most awesome shoes that we've waited seasons for. I must admit, although I am grateful for what has been brought forth the past couple of seasons, some of it has become part of a snooze-filled fest, but my "soles" are telling me that this Fall/Winter shall dazzle us!
Through my diligent efforts I will present you with this season's trends. Accompanying them will be "looks" to offset your super cute zapatos. Please don't thank me now. But remember me when those compliments start rolling in...and always remember I accept cash! ;)
The Trend: Cap-Toe Heels
l.a.m.b $390
l.a.m.b Rosebury Bootie $520
The Look
The Trend: Oxford Booties
Lumiani Treviso $170
Pura Lopez $360

The Trend: Riding Boots & Over the Knee Boots
Loeffler Randall, Matilde Boot $695

As for the "Bold Color" trend looks, I believe you'll be able to pull that one off yourself. You can either go for a monochromatic look...probably all black...then give the outfit some pop with your bold shoes! Or you can funk it up with all the colors your heart desires!
Go forth and conquer your world fashionably!
